Construction of Nissha Technology Center Kyoto (provisional name)
in Global Headquarters premises aiming to create new value
January 6, 2017
Nissha Printing Co.,Ltd.
Nissha Printing Co., Ltd. (hereinafter "Nissha") has invested about 4 billion yen into building a research and technology development base in the premises of its Global Headquarters (Nakagyo-ku, Kyoto), provisionally named Nissha Technology Center Kyoto. The basic design is completed, and full-scale construction work started in January 2017 toward scheduled completion in February 2018.
Nissha Technology Center Kyoto (provisional name) will be an urban hub of research and technology development for the approximately 500 researchers and engineers employed at various locations within the Global Headquarters. The environment-friendly, highly versatile, and sophisticated facility seeks to speed up development of new products and businesses in Japan and create new value for customers.
“We will acquire and merge new technologies into printing technologies and completely reorganize our business portfolio in global growth markets”—Nissha cites this medium-term vision in the Fifth Medium-term Business Plan in operation for a three-year period since April 2015. In order to redress heavy reliance on its current mainstay of the consumer electronics industry, the company has executed an M&A strategy as planned in the automotive, packaging (metallized paper), and medical industries where it foresees stable growth on a global basis. The move aims to create a more balanced business portfolio and ensure solid, sustainable growth. By focusing on developing new products and businesses at the same time, Nissha is building a business foundation toward its next stage of growth.
Nissha establishes the process of creating value through manufacturing in the Nissha Technology Vision. The approach involves identifying market needs, cleverly applying and utilizing the company’s seven core technologies—printing, coating, laminating, molding, cutting, material design and evaluation, and mechatronics—and fleshing them out into unique products and services. Nissha Technology Center Kyoto (provisional name) is set to consolidate the advanced research and technology development assets of the Nissha Group toward realizing this Nissha Technology Vision. Through the fusing of Nissha’s core technologies with new technologies, Nissha intends to continue its efforts in innovation from the customer’s perspective and create new value in global markets.
